The Wellenreng
Email Marketing Campaign
Turning a detailed collection of brand updates into a clear, engaging email for travel partners — connecting onboard improvements, updated rates, and upcoming sailing opportunities in one structured campaign.
Email marketing · Promotional copywriting · Content structure
01 · Project Overview
One email.
Multiple important updates.
The Wellenreng is a boutique liveaboard brand offering sailing experiences in Indonesia. The campaign brought together several updates relevant to its travel agent partners.
The email covered improvements to the boat and onboard experience, an updated rate structure, and availability for upcoming 2026–2027 trips.
The copywriting challenge was to present these different types of information in one email without losing clarity, readability, or the brand’s welcoming tone.
The Communication Goal
Help travel partners understand what’s new, why it matters, and where to go for the next step.
Rather than treating every update as a separate announcement, the email organizes the information into a single communication journey.
02 · The Brief
What did the email need to communicate?
The campaign needed to communicate operational updates and commercial information while giving travel partners clear reasons to revisit the brand’s resources and trip schedule.
Build Confidence
Explain improvements to safety equipment, engines, navigation, diving facilities, dining areas, and onboard service.
Explain the Rate Update
Communicate the updated rates from October 2026 and explain the operational context behind the adjustment.
Encourage the Next Step
Direct readers to the Agent Pack, schedule and rates, and the official website for more information.
03 · Campaign Highlights
From operational details to booking opportunities.
The email combines informational and promotional content. Each section has a distinct purpose, helping readers move through the updates in a logical order.
A Personal Reintroduction
The opening reconnects with agent partners nearly a year after the boat’s relaunch. It introduces guest feedback, onboard experience, and appreciation for partner support.
- Re-establishes the relationship with the reader.
- Provides context before introducing the updates.
- Creates a natural transition into the main message.
Onboard Improvements
A detailed list communicates improvements across safety, maintenance, navigation, diving facilities, dining, and the onboard culinary experience.
- Groups multiple updates under one clear heading.
- Uses scannable bullet points for technical details.
- Connects operational improvements with guest experience.
Rates and Agent Resources
The rate update is separated into its own section. The copy explains the context for the adjustment and directs partners to the updated Agent Pack.
- Gives pricing information a dedicated space.
- Explains the operational context for the change.
- Provides a direct link to supporting documents.
Availability and Final CTA
The email highlights selected upcoming departures and crossing trips, then directs readers to the schedule, rates, and main website.
- Makes time-sensitive trip information easy to find.
- Uses specific CTAs for different information needs.
- Ends with a final invitation to explore the brand.
04 · Copywriting Strategy
Clarity before cleverness.
For this campaign, the priority was to make a substantial amount of information easier to understand and act on. The strategy focused on structure, relevance, and clear next steps rather than overly promotional language.
01. Lead with Context
Start with a personal update and a reminder of the relationship with travel partners before moving into operational details.
02. Make Details Scannable
Separate onboard improvements, rates, and availability into distinct sections with descriptive headings and short lists.
03. Explain the Reason
Present the rate adjustment alongside its stated context: increased fuel and operating costs, and the need to maintain safety, maintenance, and service standards.
04. Match CTA to Intent
Use specific calls to action for exploring the boat, accessing the Agent Pack, checking trip availability, and visiting the website.
05 · Campaign Preview
The message, in its intended context.
The email design pairs editorial-style typography with a restrained maritime palette. The visual hierarchy separates the introduction, detailed updates, commercial information, and final call to action.
Same Spirit
A Fresh New Look
Hi there,
It’s been almost one year since the relaunch of the Wellenreng, and we’re happy to get back in touch and share some updates with you.
The campaign continues with onboard improvements, updated rates, and availability information for upcoming departures.
This is a representative preview of the campaign’s visual direction and content flow, not a live rendering of the complete email. Email clients may display HTML email layouts differently.
06 · My Contribution
Making complex information easier to act on.
My focus was on the email’s messaging, content hierarchy, and the relationship between information and action.
- Message organization Structuring several business updates into one coherent email.
- Audience relevance Keeping travel agent partners’ need for updates, rates, and availability in view.
- Persuasive clarity Explaining the significance of updates without relying on exaggerated claims.
- CTA planning Providing clear routes to the boat information, Agent Pack, trip schedule, and website.
- Email content and presentation Working with the HTML email structure, typography, visual hierarchy, and responsive considerations.
07 · Measuring Success
What success would look like.
The campaign’s intended actions provide a practical framework for evaluation: engagement with the email, visits to the Agent Pack, schedule and rates page, and the official website.
To assess actual performance, I would review available email analytics and link-click data. No open-rate, click-through, booking, or conversion results are claimed here because verified campaign metrics were not included in the materials provided for this portfolio.
